John Beede has completed the seven summits, meaning he has climbed the tallest summit on all 7 continents, including Mt. Everest and Mt. Vinson in Antarctica. He is also a motivational speaker and author, with his new book, The Warrior Challenge: 8 Quests for Boys to Grow up with Kindness, Courage, and Grit, aimed at using his adventures and experiences to explain some of the values and insight he has learned over the years in order to create a positive impact on the youth. In this conversation John and I talk about how he got into climbing, he shares some experiences from his travels climbing on several continents, feeling the primal forces of nature and his mortality, and the realization that being on the summit of Everest was almost entirely different than any expectation he had for it. Likewise we talk about a way you might shift your perspective on being responsible, about creating positive self-talk and personal honesty, mental and even sexual health, and taking ownership for our outlooks. This really is a wonderful conversation that I thoroughly appreciated having and listening back too. Enjoy.
