Robert’s journey with soccer has taken him to the Oakland Roots, where he currently plays professionally. On the field he’s incredibly determined and focused on the game, and while those aspects of his character still come out off the pitch, his laughs and smiles generally take a front seat. In this conversation we talk about quite a bit, ranging from his adventure to becoming a professional soccer player, the practices he used to get through injuries and some darker times, how the reason for his wanting to play soccer has shifted from visions of himself to visions of the changes and motivations he can bring to others, he gives us a bit of his poetry from his current musical project, After Party, and about wanting to take every moment he’s given and see how he can grow from it.
